Is today a Holiday?

Happy Sunday!! You all know what I will be doing all day today (and what I am currently doing)...That's right I will be watching football all day! Im sad though because I will be missing the night game because I have a meeting I have to go to.

Oh so last night I couldnt fall asleep because I felt like today was a holiday. You know that exciting feeling you get before Christmas? That's what I was having last night... Im still trying to get use to NFL being here finally... Woot! Ok well I am off to get ready to leave for the sports bar.

This is what I will most likely be drinking today

Well I hope that you all had a great weekend. I kind of had a laidback weekend which you all will be able to read about tomorrow :). For now, I leave you with my 30 day journal entry.

Day 10- Songs you listen to when you are Happy, Sad, Bored, Hyped, Mad

Happy: I listen to anything and everything when I am happy. If I am on my way out or getting ready to go out then I listen to top hits. I also tend to listen to alternative rock a lot. My favorites are Lady Gaga, STP, and new Pearl Jam

Sad: I have realized salsa and merengue music cheer me up. Elvis Crespo "Sera tu Sonrisa" is the best

Bored: A little country or Lady Gaga... Or Blink 182

Hyped: This is definitly all the shitty top hits lol. I am guilty. Rhiana, Beyonce, Ke$ha, Jay Z, and anything else played on KIIS or Amp.

Mad: Loud rock music., Screamo,... I use to listen to Aiden and Bad Religion when I got mad.

Don't Forget to Check Out Tuesday's Feature tab at the top and come back on Tuesday to link up!!

P.S. Dear Brett Favre/Minnesota: Can you both stop sucking and play better. Really an interception and no touchdowns yet? And letting Miami storm down the field every drive? Hello, don't you understand that you guys are letting down my fantasy football teams? I have Favre as a QB in one of my leagues and Minn defense in another... I am disappointed thus far.

Those Summer Nights... [Tuesday's Feature]

Happy Tuesday everyone!! So for the past 2 months Tuesdays have been the worst day of the week for me so lets hope that changes. So today I have brought back the Tuesday Feature. I am going to try my hardest to be better about this blog hop/link up party and I hope that some of you can join in.

Today's Topic: Best 2010 Summer Moment
Source

Well Summer might as well be over. While it is not officially over labor day has come and gone, school has started, and holiday decorations are starting to peak their little heads. So I wanted to have a feature that let us embrace summer once more while we relived the best summer 2010 memory.

Mine was my 23rd birthday celebration at one of my favorite places, the hookah lounge. A group of us went out to dinner at the Yardhouse prior to heading over there. That was fun and yummy (kev says I use this word too much).

The hookah lounge was one of the best birthday parties I have ever had. I was plesantly shocked that over 20 of my friends showed up. It was everything I wanted to be. There was dancing, I got my lap dances from 2 guys and 1 girl, I won a booty shaking contest, and was able to hang out with a lot of my fantastic friends at my favorite place. I had a blast and we were there from 10 pm-2 am. Great times! I will let the pictures do the talking

Will the bday girl please stand up?!?!

Yep I got lap dances.

Does it look like I enjoyed the girl lap dance better? Ooo jeez lol

AM, me, and my Big

These were 2 of my pledges (I was pledg mistress of my sorority). I love these girls

Roomies for life!!!

Sadly we never got a group shot. Here are just some of the legs, heads, and arms of my friends

Awww we are a cute couple eh?

And of course no birthday is complete without shots next to a creeper van. LOL we are classy

Im sad that I didn't get pictures with most of the people there or any dancing pictures but I guarentee you it was a great bday!

Well go ahead and link up :) I want to read about your best summer 2010 moments!

I love weekend trips. Maybe because I know I can actually go on those...I hardley ever go on vacation, I hope to change that as I get older and more successful. Hopefully next year I will actually get to blog about my awesome trip to Monte Carlo ...meerly a dream right now but hopefully soon it will be a reality.

So I have had many weekend getaways so it was tough to just pick one. The winner is... San Diego. It was my most recent weekend getaway to SD that I am amazed to find that I don't think I ever blogged about it when I came back. Hmmmm that is really weird. Onto my review!!
Where: San Diego, Gas Lamp Quarter

Hard Rock Hotel: This is seriously one of my favorite hotels of all time. When we checked in we got the upgrade to a beautiful suite. The room was huge and we had a living area along with a huge bedroom area with a comfortable king bed. The best part though was the huge shower with two shower heads.
This was our bed but the bedding was red.

This is pretty close to what our room looked like. That red chair was super comfortable.
Food: We ate at the Ocean Room. I got the salmon wrapped in a banana leaf but it wasn't as good as I remember. Kevin got the steak I believe. I think it was yummy. The Ocean Room has really good sushi and thats what I would recommend if you do eat there.

Activities: We hung out in our room a lot. The first night we had one of our friends come over and hang with us. That was a ton of fun: drinking and playing games.

The next day we walked around the Horton Shopping Plaza. This is an outdoor mall with a wide variety of shops. It is very well designed and I could spend a full day in here.

Like I said...you could spend hours in there
The pool at the Hardrock is pretty cool and we spent a little bit of time up there. It has a pool side bar, nice cabanas, and a decent sized pool. I was sad we couldnt stay for Sunday because the Hardrock is suppose to have one of the best pool parties. Maybe next time we go.

Of course we did a lot of walking around the gaslamp because that is what you have to do when you are in San Diego. It is one of the best downtown experience because of all the bars, nightlife, and people watching you can get done. Its also pretty safe, I don't fear getting mugged or raped when I am in SD.

Next Trip: A girl's trip to Vegas in September and/or a SD trip where we go to the Wild Animal Park and experience the night life.

I wish I had some great recommendations on where to get the best drinks or dance the night away. But I don't yet... However, I did hear good things about the club inside the Hardrock. I am hoping to

Tuesday's feature: Summer Blockbuster

Hello! Tuesday Feature is back and I really hope you are able to join in and play along. Even if you don't link up I still am very interested to know in what your favorite summer blockbuster is of ALL time!

Tuesday's Feature: Summer Blockbuster

So I needed to cheat a bit on this one because I needed some help so I looked at all the different lists. Its not because I don't have a mind of my own though, its just that how am I suppose to remember/know which movies were released in the summertime. After much deliberation and a little bit of eenie-meenie my pick for Best Summer Blockbuster of All Time is... (drumroll)....... Grease. It is the one that I want

Movie Synopsis (from IMDB)
Good girl Sandy and greaser Danny fell in love over the summer. But when they unexpectedly discover they're now in the same high school, will they be able to rekindle their romance?

Aimee's Opinion
This was the perfect summer movie. Ok so I was not alive when it came out in theaters but I am sure I would have had a blast watching it there, especially at the drive in. Grease to me is the perfect summer movie and just a great movie all around. A great love story that isnt too sappy for guys, awesome songs and dancing, great view on two opposite worlds coming together, and one of the best portrayals of how much we all can't wait for summer to come. I think the love story between Danny and Sandy is one of my favorites of all time, to me they still have the best onscreen chemistry of all time. I really can't find anything wrong with this movie. Also it is one of the few movies that probably everyone has seen and loved. That is why I feel Grease is the perfect summer blockbuster...great movie, summer themes, and singing & dancing.

Favorite Scene

Hands down, my favorite scene was the school dance. It had the best dancing in the entire movie. I loved seeing the dance off and all the "naughty" dancers that had to sit down. I think they did a great job in this scene capturing how high school students think and act. I also liked the conflict of this scene. I liked Cha Cha a lot because I felt she was a very strong independent woman who went after she wanted (even though she was a man stealing witch).

Favorite Character

Ok, I will admit it. I had a huge crush on Danny! I love love loved him. Was that just the beginning of me going after bad boys? Who knows? What I do know was I thought that John Travolta was hot when I was younger especially as Danny. I liked Danny for other reasons too. For example, he tried so hard to be bad but he was just a sweet gentleman, he wanted so badly to be liked, he was very loyal, and he had the best dance scenes of the movie.

Your turn!! Link up and tell us what your favorite summer blockbuster is:

Weekend Recap and Tuesday Feature will Return

HOLA!! How was your weekend? Mine was fantastic and long. I still have the Monday blahs though. We need a cure for this. Seriously, why is it so hard for us to get up and going on Mondays? Does anyone NOT get the Monday blues? If you are out there, please let me know what your magical cure is.

Now onto my Weekend Recap

Friday

This was such a rushed day after work. I didn't get home until about 6:30 or so and I knew my friend was going to pick me up at 7:15. Being the good  mediocre owner that I am, I managed to take PeeWee for a walk instead of using that extra time to beautify myself. Got back and hurriedly spritzed myself with Supermodel (Victoria's Secret) so at least I didn't smell like dog.

My friend and I went out to a restaurant called Torritos and got there just in time for happy hour. Yay for Margaritas! The food was great but it seriously took about an hour or so to get it. I even waited 10 minutes for water before I went to the bar to get it myself. I understand that the restaurant was busy, but waiting 1 hour for food is CRAZY. I guess they also kept running out of glasses, so we got little sippy cups. How exciting! Nothing like drinking your alcohol from a kids cup to make you feel classy.

After we left, we went to my hookah lounge. It was unbelievably hot in there! I am talking 100 degrees! Damn AC breaking during the worst time. Hookah was a lot of fun regardless, as it always is. I ended up staying out until midnight.

Saturday

I slept in very late on Saturday, it was so great! For the majority of the day I lounged around and was incredibly lazy. I watched a movie called  The Sweetest Thing. I had never seen it before and at first I thought it was going to be lame, but I ended up liking it. It was decently funny and not super sappy. I especially liked the ending.

Kevin and I then went to an early dinner (like the senior citizens we are) at The Soup Plantation. They have the best salads and breads!! Yummy. I had this fantastic asian-style salad and it was delicious

That night I went out with one of my other girl friends to go to her friend's birthday party and dancing with a bunch of gay guys. I felt bad because I bailed on the rest of our date night. Still, I had a lot of fun going out dancing. Its not often that I get to do that, especially with Chey because she has a daughter. While the dancing part was fun it was hard to find songs I could groove to because the DJ sucked. A bunch of  us girls decided we would do the robot every time the song sucked. Needless to say that became the dance of the night.

Sunday

Its a good thing I had a lazy day on Saturday because I felt like Sunday was a "run-around-and-do-everything" day. I mean it was fun stuff don't get me wrong, but I still felt like I didn't have time to relax at home. Kevin and I went and saw Despicable Me. GREAT movie! Seriously, they are making these kid movies so good lately. It was funny, a great plot line, and the voice casting was perfect. Is it sad that the past two movies I have seen  in theater's were kid movies? I don't even have a kid or a niece/nephew to use as an excuse.

Kevin had band practice,  so I spent a couple of hours at Barnes & Noble and had a great time. I love book stores. I was reading part of The Philosophy of Harry Potter, which was a good book, but I ended up buying Secrets of a Shoe Addict. It seems like a good book so far. It is a chick lit novel with a little bit of mystery involved, which is one of my favorite genres. After Kevin got out of practice we went over to my sister's house because it was my Dads birthday. We played games and ate, and my mom got on my nerves like no other! Ugh! Also, we couldnt stay late because of Sunday night programming on HBO, which is the best. Unfortunately, we got home a bit late so we only caught the last half-hour of True Blood. We did see all of Hung and Entourage though, which is good. Hung is my favorite. I want it to be True Blood but I missed 1.5 episodes and now I am SOO lost. There shall be a catchup day soon.

How was your weekend?

**Tuesday's Feature will be back tomorrow**. The theme is Best Summer Movie of All Time. So look back and see what movies were released during the summer then come back here and link up. You can do a mini review, a long one, or you can simply name the movie. Just remember to come back tomorrow and link your blog up.

Tuesday's Feature: Dessert. Come join the Linky Party!!

Hello all!! Ok, so those of you who have been with me since the beginning of my blogging journey or who went back and read some of my initial blog entries knows that I view blogging as taking chances and plunging into things.

Well I decided to take another plunge by hosting a linky party. I hope that some of you will join me and link up.

I hope you are hungry because today's Tuesday's Feature  is dessert. Share your favorite dessert and make sure to include a picture and even a recipe (if you have one).

Carrot Cake
My favorite dessert is carrot cake. Every time I see one it makes my mouth water. Just looking at that cake up top is making me drool. Yummy! I do not have a recipe for you because I have not been braqve enough to take a stab at making a carrot cake, my standards are just too high.

Since I do not have a recipe to share with you I will share the story of how carrot cake became my favorite dessert. It was just over 4 years ago that the love affair began. I was a freshman at my college and just started to get a hang of being away at college and deal with the crappy food provided to us in our meal plans. There was one thing, however, that the CI made well and that was the carrot cake. I got into the habit of eating several pieces whenever they offered it (which was about 2-3 times a week). Hello "freshman 15" 30" Damn you carrot cake!

It is a love affair that to this day I cannot resist. If there is a carrot cake within 10 feet of me I will sniff it out and devour it. If I get married I will most likely have a carrot cake as my wedding cake. Untraditional? Sure, but it is my wedding and I will have my cake and eat it too!

I know you must have a favorite dessert...So link up!

I wish they all can be CA girls... Tuesday's Feature

Tuesday's feature: Favorite Summer Spot

My favorite summer spot has to be the beach, of course. I mean did you guys expect anything else from a CA girl? Something unique about my love for the beach though is that I hate going in the water. I know what type of Californian am I?

So why the beach then if not the waves? My favorite thing is renting a bicycle and riding it along the path. I enjoy the fresh ocean air, being able to see the water, and admiring the gorgeous and unique beach houses. There are two beaches I LOVE here in southern CA. One because they have one of the best bike paths and you can always go and get some great ice cream treats at the end of your ride. The second because it is less crowded and has a small town feel to it.

I will let these pictures do the talking. :)

Well that is all. I don't know what next weeks feature will be yet. But I will update you soon. If there is anything you woiuld be interested in featuring or seeing featured let me know!

:)

Tuesday's Feature: Wine

 Hello All!!

It is time for Tuesday's Feature and this is the first week of the new idea. It didn't really catch on the first week but what idea ever does? I am going to keep at this format for a while and if it doesn't work then I might switch over to a linky party/ blog hop. The reason behind this format is that I think it would be cool to have a bunch of reviews on one central location while still linking back to the reviewer's blog.

So a little backstory with me and wine. Over the past 2 years I did a total 180 when it comes to wine. I use to HATE wine, I thought it was dry and gross. However, Kevin started introducing me to the sweeter and more refreshing wines. Well I had a love affair, with the wine I mean. I love wine and I just can't seem to get enough. I love being introduced to new wine and going to lounges.restaurants that specialize in wine. It is just a magical drink and it is so classy. Don't you just feel like a refined lady (or gentleman) when you are sipping on a glass?

Well onto the reviews.

 Aimee's Review
Wine Name: Il Conte D’alba Stella Rose
Red or White Wine: Red Wine (Port)
Wine Characteristics: Fruity, Sweet, sparkling, and refreshing
Review of wine: Stella Rose is not your typical red wine. For starters it is not dry and you serve it very cold. It is also very sweet and it sort of bounces off the tongue. When I first took a sip of this wine I was very skeptical as I hate most red wines. I am a picky drinker and one of the qualifications for my wine is that it be sweet. This fit all my qualifications perfectly. It is a great wine for someone that likes sweet and refreshing  drinks.
What type of food does this wine go well with? Fruit or dessert. Or it is good on its own
Stem or no-stem wine glass? I prefer stem glasses
Anything Else?  This wine is inexpensive with an expensive taste. Perfect for a night in, either with a significant other or a friend).

Kevin's Review (visit his blog)
Wine Name: Sutter Home Moscato
Red or White Wine: White Wine
Wine Characteristics: Fruity, Sweet, can be a before or after dinner wine
Review of wine: Moscato is derived from the Muscat Blanc type of wine, which tends to be sweeter than most white wines. Not quite considered a dessert wine, it is versatile and a perfect wine to try for beginners.
What type of food does this wine go well with? Fruit and cheese, or just by itself after dinner.
Stem or no-stem wine glass? Either one.
Anything Else? It's great, inexpensive and a can't miss when it comes to wine prospects.

What is your favorite wine?

For next Tuesday's Feature it shall be a feature on your favorite summer spot. It could be a vacation spot or a local hangout. Send your review (along with pictures) to runningchick5505@yahoo.com by Monday, May 24th at 9 pm PST. I will post your review along with a link to your blog.

Thanks!

Insert Clever Title Here- Tuesday's Feature

It's Tuesday and that means it is time for Tuesday's Feature. Today I am going to review one of my favorite foods: Steak. I love steak more than life itself and I am very particular about the way its cooked. Many people think the way i prefer my steak cooked is "disgusting" (Kevin) but hey, it's my food so back off!

The Perfect Steak: Medium rare. I prefer it to where the savory juices drip onto the plate, enabling me to dip the steak in it. I never have to use any type of sauce (A-1, Hollandaise, Mustard) because there is no need. It is delicious as is.

My personal choice? Filet Mignon, topped with mushrooms or King Crab.
Best Steak I have ever had:
I went to this pricey restaurant, which happens to be a short walk from my condominium, called Maderas Steak & Ribs. It's a relatively small restaurant with an average decor and stellar customer service. The food was incredible! The steak was cooked to perfection. The strongest testament to the quality of the meal was the fact that Kevin, who is notorious for needing sauce on everything, abstained from A-1 due to the tenderness and flavor of the steak. I ordered a Filet Mignon topped with King Crab, which was a revelation of flavor. After the meal, the owner came to ask how we felt about it. When we informed him of our immense satisfaction, he mentioned that they import their steaks from the midwest, who use a more natural form of raising cattle. The end of the night was bittersweet as I was sad to leave, but super satisfied with my meal.

Steak House I've been Dying to try:

I have heard so many good reviews from this place, i'm itching to head on in. Not helping in this cause is the fact that someone I know works there, thus I hear about it more than I should. Residing in the $50-plus per person price range, Ruth's Chris is a bit out of my price range normally, however, Kevin and I are hopefully going to take advantage of the discount rates during OC Restaurant Week. Unfortunately,  steak is not on the predetermined menu for the event. Sad times. Still, I am determined to eat a Steak here. I just hope it lives up to its lofty expectations.
Do you have a favorite steak or steak house?
