Im being Pouty. Submit your Questions for Ask a Sport's Expert

Hello all! Well Sports from a Girls POV is on hold for this week because I am being pouty. I even had a good theme lined up for this week. It was going to be "Why controversial players are always the favorite" (i.e. Favre, Kobe, LeBron, Ochocinco, Owens, etc) BUT yesterday was a HORRID sports day for obvious reasons so I am boycotting sports...that is until tonight when hopefully the Rangers actually show up to play and beat the Giants (please please please).
I wish I looked this cute when I pout

Anyway!! Next week for Sports Thursday we have a special treat for you... We have ask a "sports expert" where you all get to ask my boyfriend, Kevin, any sports related (or non-sports related) question you want. He is super excited about this actually has no idea about this yet but will love the idea.
Kevin is a walking sports encycolpedia and really can talk about sports for days and is actually very knowledgeable about ALL sports and teams. I feel he would be best situated as a sports talkshow host but alas he is a bleeding heart and is in non-profits instead.
This is his thinking face. I am sure he will give deep though to all of your questions

So have a sports question you really want answered? Do you want to win money on a sports bet and need advice on who to pick? or Do you want to pick Kevin's brain on anything? Then leave a question here or message it to runningchick5505@yahoo.com.  It will be answered next Thursday in Sports From a Girls boyfriend's POV.

Most Beautiful Ring Ceremony and Wee Bit!

Hello folks! Well I apologize for having my days all mixed up (I am human and allowed to make mistakes). I don't know why I kept saying the 1st game of the World Series was last night. It is in fact tonight. Yesterday started a great sports week and I hope that it continues tonight with a Giants loss and a King's win. The Lakers won last night and the Heat made a fool of themselves on their game. (Super team? I have yet to see that)

The Lakers' Ring Ceremony was probably the best that they have ever had (and they have had a lot). I liked the fact that each player introduced the next player. It brought in a more emotional feeling. Man it is great to be a Laker fan. My favorite part of the night was Derek Fisher's introduction of Kobe (Ron Artest was a close second because I love him!). Here is the clip, you should really watch it because Derek Fisher is so funny and did a great job of introducing the current best basketball player.
"This guy I am about to introduce I'm not sure if you know who he is...He doesn't do very much to help us at all.... the World's Best Basketball Player-Kobe Bryant"

Since it is Wednesday you all know what that means around here. Wee Bit of Me. This week its Halloween Edition.Want to join in? Just click the link below and it will take you to Leigh Ashley's blog. It is fun.

{one} have you ever seen a ghost?
Yes, it is the what made me start believing in ghosts. It was about 2 years ago and I was sleeping over at my parent's house. I was on the couch and I wake up and I see this white foggy cloud hoovering above me and it is making a spooky noise. It then sits on my chest and I couldn't breath for like 5 seconds. It was scary. I have had other encounters with ghosts that weren't scary so overall I'm really not afraid of them.

{two} when was the last time you dressed up for halloween?
I dress up every year. I just don';t trick or treat anymore. Last year I was kinda a flapper lol. The year before I was a sexy cop called "Officer Naughty"

{three} what’s your favorite candy?
Anything chocolate. Or skittles.

{four} did you have a favorite costume growing up?
Um I liked being a baby a lot or a princess

{five} did you carve pumpkins this year?
Nope I try to avoid that. I did want to decorate this year but never got around to it. I wanted to make glitter pumpkins like these... there is always next year
Source

{six} what’s your favorite scary movie?
So I haven't seen a lot of the classic ones that everyone should see like Nightmare on Elm St or the Halloweens. (Don't worry I am going to remedy that soon). I don't know my favorite though. I love all horror movies because Ilove being scared

{seven} haunted houses or corn mazes?
Ive never been through a corn maze. Its not a huge thing here in southern CA (or if it is I missed that memo). I LOVE getting scared and I scare easily so haunted houses. You all should know that I mean I went to HorrorNights twice this year and am sad I cant go again :(

{eight} are you superstitious?
Yes.... Mostly with sports though.

{nine} have you ever owned a black cat?
Yes I have had 5 black cats throughout my life. I currently own one (well she is a tuxedo cat so she is black on top and white underneath)

{ten} what are you plans for this coming halloween?
They are up in the air still. I have a backup party on Saturday if we can't figure out anything else to do. Then on Sunday we are probably  going over to our friends house for game night.

What are you doing for Halloween? What are you going to be?
Happy Wednesday!

Really You're Going to Make me Think?

Hiya folks!! How are you all doing.I am doing okay... Its been a  crappy day complete with work annoyances, stomach aches, and confusion Tuesday.

However, I am super excited for today because it is a big sports day. No I am not talking about the 1st game of the World Series (go Rangers! Boo Giants!) even though I will be watching/following that of course. I am talking about opening day of Basketball!! And as a Laker fan I have gotten semi-used to seeing the ring ceremony performed so I am excited to once again see my boys get their rings!! Seriously I can't contain my excitement because all the (important) sports are in season. Oh and the LA Kings won last night in a shoot out. I am super proud of them so far (keep it up boys). They are #2 in the NHL with a 6-2 record. (OMG how amazing would it be if the Kings won the Stanley Cup and the Lakers won the NBA Finals?!?!...one can dream, right?)

UGH speaking of all these sports reminds me that I haven't gone to a live game in a while. Hello! I really hope I make it out to a bunch of Kings games and I may have a hookup now for Lakers tickets so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I get to watch these in person and not on the TV or listening on the radio.

Sorry for all the sport's talk (how many of you did I lose?) Okay well onto my normal entry for today :)

Day 12: Something You Never Get Complimented On
Do any of you really keep track of things you don't get complimented on? I don't. I mean I'm sure I never get complimented on my earlobes, left knee, the way I sneeze,or my pinky toenail. Did I miss the memo that we are suppose to get complimented on things all the time? I guess if I was to have to pick I would say it would be a tie between my voice and my cleaning ability.

1) My voice sounds very nasaly and quite annoying. Multiple that annoyance level by 25 if I have any sugar or alcohol in me. I sound like a mix between Fran Drescher and a crow. Yah not the sexiest voice. My voice is sexy if I have had too much to drink or if I stayed up way too late.

2) I have no cleaning ability nor an motivation to clean ever. Kevin will gladly confirm this so that is why I would never be complimented on this :)

Are you watching any of the sporting events tonight? Who are you rooting for in the World Series? (If you say Giants go ahead and click unfollow lol, I kid I kid)

I hope you have a great day!!

This is the Part where I Throw my Hands up in the Air and Scream "I don't Care"

So one of the fall backs to being a sports fan is the stress. It is stressful to watch your team lose, the playoffs are stressful, and it is stressful to watch close games. However, shouldn't that stress end as soon as your team is not playing anymore? Well it doesn't.

Case in point, I am stressing over the Giants being in the playoffs and somehow kicking the Phillies Ass. I hate the Giants with a passion  (I am allowed to ok, they are the Dodgers rival) and would love for their trophy  case to stay like the one shown below but gosh darn it they keep wining. I am stressed that if they do win the World Series that my boyfriend will go on a killing spree (ok I kid I kid, I hope). But I really want to go to SF in March for our 3 year anniversary but Kev said that if the Giants win the World Series he is not going, so please Giants...I beg you to not win because I really want to go on that trip.

Anyway in other sports news...All my teams suck, The End!

MLB-Playoffs

NLCS: Giants lead the Phillies 3-1 in the series... I am hoping for a Phillies rally and for them to win but realistically speaking it is looking like the Giants will be going to the World Series (boo and hiss)
ALCS: Texas Rangers lead the Yankees 3-2. Wow this is going different than I expected but I think the Yankees will be the ones heading to the World Series. However, I am all for the Rangers going because I don't like the Yankees and they won last year.
World Series: Come on now, we all knew from the beginning of the season that the AL would win in the World Series regardless of who goes. The AL is just a better division and whether it be the Yankees or the Rangers playing either the Phillies or the Giants, the AL is going to win. I think the World Series will be very exciting this year and will most likely go to 7 games.

NFL

I don't know what the hell is going on in the NFL. It is the battle of who could be the suckiest team this year. There are no teams yet that really stick out as amazing (ok maybe the Jets and the Ravens)... Most teams are underperforming (cough Chargers, Vikings, Cowboys cough) and I am just not impressed with any team yet.

The biggest story in the NFL right now is actually the injuries and big hits. There have been several concussions this year already. The commissioner is tightening the belt and is enforcing new rules and fines to hopefully protect the players. Last week 5 of my fantasy football players got injured so of course I lost. So yes, can we please figure out how to stop these injuries? Its messing up my record (oh and it is not good for the players either).

Yah I don't really feel much like talking about football because my Chargers are 2-3 and not only did they lose to the Raiders 2 weeks ago but even worse they lost to the Rams last week. I am going to laugh if they beat the Patriots this weekend.

Hockey

My love of hockey started 2 years ago when Kevin explained it to me. How can I not like a sport that encourages fighting and where the pace of the game is non stop. Fighting in hockey is a key component, there are players that are the designated fighters, there are techniques that the players know (i.e. how to pull the jersey over the head), and fights are started to rally the team and show other teams that they are not a team to be messed with. Here is one of the greatest and most intense fights of all time.

I am happy with hockey right now because my team, the LA Kings are doing fantastic and they are ranked as #3 in the entire league. I encourage you all to learn about the basic rules of hockey and watch it. I think you will like it!

Sorry my sports entry kinda sucked today. I guess this is why I should write it the night before. I am kinda lazy about sports during the day.

30 Days of Truth
Day 7: Someone Who has Made your Life Worth Living
I have a couple of people that have done this. I am lucky that I have some amazing people in my life.

1) The Palmer Society

This group of girls got me through college. They are the girls I know I can count on. They helped me get involved throughout college and is probably one of the main reasons I didnt drop out and move back home. I love all of these girls

2) Kevin

I love him. He is a great boyfriend. He has helped me open up my eyes and discover who I truely am. I can go on and on about why he is fantastic but I won't :)

World Series, Randy Moss Trade, Onion Sports, and NFL Predictions.

Hiya folks! Happy Thursday! I hope you are all having a fantastic week and are as excited as I am that tomorrow is Friday... I got to work at 6 am this morning but guess what?  I get to leave at 3 so all is good.

Well today is Thursday and that over here means Sports from a Girl's Point of View. This past week has been quite a doozy in the way of sports. A lot has occured what with the baeseball lplayoffs starting, a huge trade in the NFL, the NFL in general, and other sports almost being back in season (Basketball and Hockey). Oh my goodness I am going to have so much to talk about for the next couple of months!! So bear with me as this will be a long entry.

I urge you to read this hilarious article that Kevin (shameless plug of his awesome blog) showed me. It isfrom the Onion and it is about everything you need to know about the NFL teams. Its a great read

MLB

So I will admit that I have been a bad baseball fan this year and barely followed it. Hey before you judge its because I am a Dodger fan. Yes please leave your condolences below. Seriously boys you suck!!! We need new owners. Ones that will actually spend money. It sucks to say but you can't have a great baseball team on a small budget. Ok but enough about my sucky team...lets talk about the playoffs. I really want the Twins or the Rays to win it all. As long as the Giants don't make it al the way and the Phillies don't win then I am happy. It would also be nice if the Yankees lost to. Come on Twins pull an upset!

American League- Division Series
  • Texas Ranges vs. Tampa Bay Rays. The Rays are leadng that series 1-0 and will most likely win in 5 games,
  • New York Yankees vs. Minnesotta Twins. The Yankees are leading 1-0 and are favored to win. I will predict it probably go in 5 games but I would love for the Twins to pull the upset.
National League-Division Series
  • Philadelphia Phillies vs. Cincinnatti Reds. Phillies lead the series 1-0 and I predict they shut the Reds out (in 4 games). UGH I hate the Phillies. Oh but Halladay did pitch a no-hitter last night so congrats to him as its only the 2nd no hitter in playoffs.
  • Atlanta Braves vs. San Fransisco Giants. Ugh I hate the Giants. Oh I have already voiced it? Okay well then The Giants will win this series in 5.
NFL

Randy Moss Make up Your Mind!

Stephanie @ A Day in the Life... wrote a great post about this from a loyal Randy Moss. Check it out because she has a way better prespective on this news. (here)

Well, well, well look who is back in the Purple and the Gold. The big news this week is that New England traded Moss to the Vikings. Lets just say that the NFC (espcially the NFC East) need to watch out because the Vikings have all the tools to success.  As long as the Vikings don't screw it up they are well on their way to destroy the NFC and go to the Superbowl...only to be defeated by the Ravens.

Some Predictions and Game to Watch

I will keep this brief :)
  • Kansas City will get its first (of many) loss this week when they actually play a team that is not a piece of cake, the Colts.
  • SD will beat the Oakland Raiders and it will be a loud game where many fights will break out (but in the stands)
  • Two of the worst NFL teams play eachother (St. Louis Rams vs. Detroit Lions) so be prepared for a boring game where the Rams win.
Game to Watch

Minnesotta Vikings vs. NY Jets.
Oh man, this is going to be a great great game. These are two of the best teams in the NFL (as much as it pains me to say it). Be prepared to see Moss and Favre test out the waters. It will be a game with a lot of defense and it will be a game that is won by a field goal. I predict the Vikings win 20-17.

Fantasy Update: I kick ass! LOL no but I am 3-1 in all 3 leagues I am in and I hope that I win 1 of the leagues I am in. How are you all doing?

The stars have Realligned... NFL Week 2 Rundown. [Sports from Girl's POV]

Hola!! Its Thursday and that means its time for some Sports from a Girl's POV or really some NFL week 2 recaps and week 3 predictions. I did a very good job with last weeks predictions so lets see if I can keep it up!

Game Recaps:
Wow I did a good job with my predictions last week overall... Lets reflect back on those first
"Colts vs. Giants. The battle of the brothers. I love a little family rilvary... I'll pick the Colts to win"

Well did they ever win?!?! Seriously the Colts spanked the Giants like there was no tomorrow. It wasn't even a football game, it was a slaughtering. Maybe the Manning brothers got into a fight before the game and Peyton rallied his team to just kill the Giants. All I know was that the final score was 38-14 and that my friends is what we call a Blowout.
"Ravens vs. Bengals... I'll pick the Ravens to win but it is going to be a super tight game"

Well I wasn't right about the outcome (Bengals actually won 15-10) but I was right that it was a super tight game. It came down to the final minutes of the game. Both teams looked really good which was to be expected. These are some of the better quality teams in the AFC

San Diego Chargers vs. Jacksonville Jaguars (38-13)
Tolbert after 1 of his 2 rushing TD

Yet another spanking. This one seriously was no contest either. I mean the score actually makes it seem closer than what the game portrayed. The Chargers were just back in fine form. Rivers looked exceptional and he was finally communicating with his recievers while getting protection from his line. Ryan Matthews (RB) looked good until he got injured but the key to the running game was actually Tolbert who was a beast! Gates was phenomal (like always) and our defense was actually playing. I am glad to see my boys back.

Some More Blow-Outs & Surprises

There were actually a couple of blowouts this weekend. Quite suprising. We had Atlanta slaughtering Arizona 41-7. Packers kicked the Bulls ass but thats not a huge suprise (34-7).

A couple of games this weekend shocked me as well.
  • The Raiders actually won? Well I mean they were playing the Rams though so it wasn't super suprising I guess. And I guess that can be one of the 6 wins for the season ( ;P lol sorry Bananas)
  • Detroit kept it very close with the Eagles.... Do the Eagles just suck or are the Lions becoming a good team?
  • Minnesota has started the season 0-2 with this week's loss to the Dolphins. Do you think they will get it together and turn it around or will it just be a bad season for them? I think they will win the next 6 in a row.
Best Game of Week 2: New England Patriots at New York Jets (14-28)

Of course I will stand by and say the Chargers game was the best one of the week but I will probably think that every week. This game was weird for me because I was rooting for the Pats. I hate hate the Pats but I guess I just had to choose the lesser of the two evils.

It was a hard fought game with both teams just playing really great offense. Sanchez threw some great passes and had 3 touchdowns for the game, Tomlinson actually looked pretty good but it most likely won't last, and their overall running game looked good. UGH!! I hate the Jets so I hate admitting that they looked really good but they did.

The Pats looked really good in the first half and Brady still had a great game but they just couldnt get on the same page in the second half and rally back. They had their chances but they let it slip away from them...

Predictions and Games to Watch: Week 3

Detroit vs. Minnesota: I said the Vikings will win their next 6 and I stick by that but I think once again the Lions will shock and keep it close. They will lose by no more than a touchdown.

SF vs. KC: I think the Chiefs will get their first loss of the season here. The Cheifs aren't good enough to keep winning and SF almost beat the Saints this past weekend.

NYJ vs. Miami Dolphins: I think this will be a hard fought game and I am hoping the Dolphins win this one. I will predict they do especially since they are coming off a win over the Vikings and will be at home.

Game to Watch: Wow none of the games look like they will be exceptional this week. Hmm Ill say that Atlanta Falcons vs. NO Saints should be good if Atlanta keeps playing well...

Well thats all for sports :) What about you? Did anything shock you last weekend? Do you have any predictions of your own.
Day 13: A Letter to Someone Who has Hurt you Recently

Dear Aimee:

Stop being so damn hard on yourself. You have to enjoy life more and stop thinking only about negatives all the time. Chin up and move on. Allow yourself to be fully happy, let down your guard, and enjoy life. You are your own worst enemy. Let go of the past and the high expectations and just start being who you want to be.

Love,
You

Yep I have hurt myself the most recently... Don't really have anyone else I feel I need to tell off.

Hope you have a very Happy Thursday!

NFL Week One Rundown... The devil might be Ice Skating.

Hello people! It is the first entry of my Sport's from a Girl's POV football edition! So the NFL season has officially started and it is going to be a great season right? (insert excited cheers and clapping here) I decided that every week I am going to give my expert opinion on the week and predictions for the weeks to come.

If I could summarize Week 1 in 1 word I would say Unpredictable. I mean sure there were some games that everyone could predict the outcome (i.e. we all knew that Tennessee was going to woop the Raiders- Sorry Mayra) but what about those games that left us scratching our heads (Colts losing to the Texans especially with Peyton having a fantastic game.) What abot the Seattle Seahawks completly kicking the 49ers ass?

I want to feature a couple of key games of Week 1

New England Patiots vs. Cincinnatti Bengals (Pats-38, Bengals-24):

Watch out it looks like the really scary Patriots team is back and ready to kick some butt. The last two years they haven't been too big of a threat with Tom Brady being injured and then coming back from it. Now it looks like the whole team is healthy and they are a powerhouse again. The Bengals are an excellent team and I look forward to watching them especially with Ochocinco and Owens... However, I must admit that as a Charrger fan I am really afraid of seeing a super powerful New England team.

Seattle Seahawks vs. SF 49ers (Seahawks 31, 49ers-6)

Source
This is suppose to be a good year for SF and they are suppose to have one of the best defenses in the league. They could have fooled me with how easy the Seahawks made it look to score points... Is it because Pete Carroll is a fantastic coach? maybe. Is it because SF had a horrible game? Well they did but lets give Seattle some credit too. Can Seahawks finally be excited that they have a good team this year? Only time will tell. However, that game showed us that Matt Hasselback can be a really good QB and that Alex Smith kinda sucked, I mean he didnt have any touchdowns and 2 interceptions...pathetic. Hmm maybe the seahawks have something up their sleeves. If they keep up the high scoring offense and the fantastic defense then it could be a very scary year. My prediction? It starts to peeter out halfway through the season, they are still a young team with a brand new head coach.

San Diego Chargers vs. Kansas City Chiefs (SD-14, KC-21)

WTF was definitly going through my head during most of this game. I should have known we were going to lose to the team I like to affectionatly refer to as the Kansas Shitty Chiefs because I had a dream that we would. However, I am not going to jump to the conclusion that this is a bad omen for SD and it must mean we are going to suck this year. Hello? Could we have been playing in any worse conditions? The loudest stadium with rain starting a rookie RB. As much as all of us fans would have loved to see us annihalate (or even beat) KC we shouldn't be too disappointed we lost.

We have a lot to clean up. 1) Offensive line and Rivers needs to have better communication 2) Matthews needs to show what he can bring to our running game 3) Rivers needs to trust our recievers. 4) Merriman needs to play and our defense needs to tighten up and 5) our special teams can not suck ass (We gave up 2 punt/kick return touchdowns/)

Also Jamal Charles and Matt Cassel (KC) look really good. I will be super happy if Jamal Charles keeps up what he is doing because he is on my fantasy team.

Predictions:
I predict that this is going to be a great season. I think that the first week is always weird because of rookie mistakes, first game jitters, and trying out new waters. However, I think the teams will all settle into their own and the teams that are expected to win will most likely win

I am going to make my prediction for the Superbowl and I will think it will be interesting to come back here and see if I was right. I predict that Baltimore will win over Green Bay. I think its going to be really close in the NFL because there are about 4 teams that are strong superbowl contenders. I would love to say SD makes it to the superbowl but knowing my Chargers they are lucky to win 1 game in the playoffs...

Games to Watch this Week:

Colts vs. Giants. The battle of the brothers. I love a little family rilvary... I'll pick the Colts to win
Ravens vs. Bengals... I'll pick the Ravens to win but it is going to be a super tight game

Sorry if thats too much sports talk for you :)

What is That I smell??? Pigskin!!! (Sports from Girl's POV and Day 2)

So I am 100% 10000000% excited for today. Yesterday I started to feel a bit different and for a second I didn't understand it but then I remembered... NFL KICKS OFF TONIGHT!!! No more dumb preseason games that don't matter. I get to see the real men (ok the 3rd string are also real) starting tonight. I always tend to forget exactly how much football affects my life and makes me happy. Maybe I am a little crazy or obsessed but I just can't help it. Its fricking FOOTBALL Season. I don't understand people that can go through life and not care about football... Oh well I don't like mash potatoes so that makes me weird.

What Football Means to Me:

  • Awesome games and players to watch
  • Never having a dull Sunday
  • Having an excuse to wear my jerseys
  • I'm sure Kev is disappointed I don't wear this type of outfit lol
    Source
  • Buffalo Wings and drinks
  • Competition
  • Having multiple things to look forward to
  • Monday night Football!
  • Betting (Kev and I have a friendly bet that we do the entire season. We pick what team is going to win and we do that for every game of the entire season and playoffs. Whoever loses has to buy dinner. I won the last 2 years)
  • Big hits
  • Brilliant passes and receptions
  • Fantastic runs
  • Excitement
  • Stress
  • Team Pride
  • Disappointment of being a fan of a team that never can get through the playoffs
  • Trash Talking
  • Going to games (hopefully we will go to 2 games this year)
  • Sports Talk
Needless to say I have been waiting for this day since the day after the Superbowl. I can't wait to watch some NFL!

Day 2: What does your blog name mean

Source
I know I have explained this here before but here it is again. Here in CA there is this awesome morning show on KROQ called the Kevin & Bean show... They have a bunch of regular segments that are really funny. One of them is Thanks for that Info Bean because he often talks about useless things that no one cares about. I do the same thing so that is how my blog name came about. Sorry it wasn't a more clever story.

Source
So are you excited for football? What does football season mean to you? I know to some of you it means having your husband watch a bunch of games that you could careless about. I'm sorry. Maybe next week I will post the basics of football or why football can be girl friendly (hello tight pants? )

Images without a source are found through google images.

Blood, strains, and dumb plays... Sports from a Girl's POV

Sorry for the two posts again in one day. Started feeling guilty that all Ive been doing is venting this week on my entries so figured that I would give you guys what you expect from me on Thursday... SPORTS!!

Sports from a Girls POV: Injuries in Preseason

There is nothing that I find more stupid and ridiculous in the sporting world then players getting injured in the preseason. I cringe when I hear about it. You should be practicing hard and playing the games as if they were real during training camp and preseason but not hard enough where you ruin your season  (and potentially your team's season).

For this exact reason is why I disagree with having your franchise player playing for more than a series or two during a preseason game. While it is a general unwritten rule that there is no blitzing in the preseason and the hits shouldn't be as hard you can't always avoid it. That is like putting a cake in front of a fat kid and telling him not to eat it... The chubsters is always going to eat the cake and the football players are always going to want to tackle hard and blitz the QB. Fair enough just be careful.

There is nothing worse than hearing about your players having to miss the entire season because of a dumb meaningless play during a preason game or even worse during a training camp practice

Key Injuries and Dumb Moves:

Broncos: Oh man they had quite a scary preseason where it was beginning to look  like they were going to have no running backs and most likely have to play their 3rd string. Lucky for them (and their fans) most of their players have returned. One of the injuries they had was Tebow (a rookie QB I love to hate) who got a rib injury when he ran into 2 bengals at an exhibition game...But he seems to be doing better (aww shucks)

Vikings: The Vikings #1 WR, Sidney Rice, is going to be out for 1/2 the season because he decided to wait until now to get a hip surgery. The purpose of off season is to take care of those things toward the begining so that you can be in good health by the time season rolls around. Oh and get this, their # 2 WR Havin missed most of camp because of migranes. Hmm well the vikings were able to bribe Favre to play again but looks like he might not have the talent to throw to if the Vikings don't straighten their issues out... Oh well they still have Adrian Peterson (damn them for that)

Eli Manning:  This one is an example of just stupid playing decisions. Eli had to get 12 stiches after running into his own man in the backfield. So not only did he get injured during a preseason game but it was his own fault because he didn't follow the play right. Good thing it was only a small injury. He is the Giant's franchise player.

Dumb Rivers moment: I can bash him because he is on my team. Rivers (SD QB)
is probably one of the hardest working player in the league but he is just as hard headed and stubborn and often gets in the news because of the lip he gives to everyone. Being the stubborn,  competitive player he is he decided to tackle a defensive player himself when the ball was intercepted. No Rivers that is not ok. It was great to see and a great play but NO, bad boy! You are our franchise player, you are a QB, and it is preseason. Geez. Im just glad he didnt get injured  (probably because the cowboy had no idea what Rivers was doing).

I leave you with 2 videos of the last two situations I discussed.

Congrats your 3rd string is the best in the NFL... [Sports from a Girl's POV]

First off, before I begin I would like to thank Jen from A Girl in Pearls... for featuring me today as a Pearly Blogger!! Also welcome to all of you that have dropped by from there.

Thursdays around here are Sports from a Girl's Point of View. Sometimes I will feature uniforms (that comes next week folks), rant about things that annoy me in the sporting world (today), or give you a rundown in what is happening in sports... So enjoy!

Today I would like to talk about Preseason football. More so about what people don't understand about it.

NFL.com
Dear Crazy Fan,

I love preseason football as much as the next person (ok so maybe I have been slacking on watching it lately but cut me some slack...im forgetful). I love that it means the return of football and that I can finally watch a game that is not a rerun. When preseason comes on that means I can start counting down the days until kickoff  (exactly 1 month from today!!) and so I can start talking with people about how I think the season is going to go (sadly, I don't think the Chargers will make it to the Superbowl this year).

You, crazy fan, see it as a time to start talking shit on how well your team is doing in the preseason. CONGRATS!! Your 3rd string is one of the best 3rd strings in the entire NFL. That is quite an accomplishment. You know how that will benefit you? If all of yours and your opponent's starters got injured at the same exact time then you might have the chance of winning in regular season.  Seriously, get over your team winning in the preseason...it doesn't mean anything.

Some fans should attend a Smack Talk Class. Talk Relevant Smack
Source: digg.com

Preseason was created so that 3rd stringers can get a feel of playing in an actual game and then the starters will play for maybe 10 minutes so that they can officially warm up. Just because the Raiders beat the Cowboys doesn't mean that Raider fans should start boasting how this is their year to win the Superbowl. (Sorry Im not trying to pick on Raider fans its just some of my friends who happen to be Raider fans are the reason I went on this rant... more power to you if you actually understand what preseason is.) Also do you really think that the 49ers are going to be able to beat the Colts in regular season? No Siree!

Crazy fan, I'm not telling you not to get excited when your team wins. Its an awesome feeling when your team wins. Feel free to even boast about it if you would like. Please just refrain from saying that your team is so fantastic based off of what happens in preseason. It means nothing. Wait for regular season before you start making predictions about having the best team in the NFL (we all know thats reserved for the Chargers anyway ;) ).

Sincerly,
An Almost as Crazy Fan as You.

All opinions in this letter are 100% my own and I understand if you want to talk some smack against my team as well. I can take it. If you are just going to tell me how the Chargers have never won a Superbowl I can save you the trouble because trust me as a fan I am well aware. :) Yay for Smack Talk  Football Season.

Happy Day Before Friday!

I wish I was at a Sporting Event so I could SCREAM without getting weird looks.

Sorry to be a Debbie Downer or a Negative Nelly but I am having a Shitastic day... My heart is pounding, I have a headach, and I once again want to pull my hair out. However, that is all the complaining I am going to do on that matter.

Sports From a Girl's POV
*Picture Warning* Before I start though I wanted to see how many of you guys would be interested in joining a fantasy football league (its free and safe) just for fun during football season... I just want to get a feel on the interest to see if its worth it.

See I told you...Crazyness ensues. We were doing a mock wave for the camera
I think I've mentioned it here before but I love going to sporting events because you can scream, shout, cheer, and make a fool out of yourself all in the love of sports. I can be as loud as I want and it is actually encouraged (well if you do it at the right time that is). I feel that a sporting event is my ultimate happy place. There is sports, food, alcohol, entertainment (people watching, cheerleaders, halftime shows, etc), and loudness. What more do you need? Can I please go? I mean now!

Going to games with awesome people is a lot of fun

So something I am looking forward to is football season. I am pretty excited because reading through your blogs I see a lot of you are football fans. Come together all you ladies who love sports. Show your pride. Lets playfully bash each others teams and just enjoy sports together.

Lazy Edition of Sports from Girl's POV

Hello Readers...Happy day before Friday Thursday!!

One of my favorite things about sports are the awesome mind-blowing plays and of course, the messed up plays. I love the Top Ten and Worst Ten plays on Sports Center. I know a lot of women don't like sports, a fact that still puzzles me, but I am sure that everyone can enjoy the following videos.

So enjoy these sport video clips because 1) they are awesome and 2) I am just too busy to actually write an entry.

Magic Johnson- Greatest Basketball Player of All Time!

Best Plays of the Decade

Not Top 10- This is one of my favorite segments on Sports Center. I love seeing horrible plays and funny things that happen in sports

Hope you enjoyed my Sports from a Girl's POV-Lazy Edition

Sports A-Holes! *Sports from a Girl's POV* (might be offensive to some)

So I love love sports as you all are aware. However, there are a couple of things about the Sporting World that I despise Those are: athletes who think they are all that, ESPN's repetivive story lines, and the broken hearts you endure from being passionate about your teams.

Today I am going to focus on who I believe are big Sports A-holes in current times. I am sorry if I offend anyone or spotlight your hero. These are my opnions and shouldn't be taken too seriously... Please do not read if you think you might get offended... I warned you :)

1) LeBron James
He is the biggest jerk in the sporting world today. I hate him so much and the last 2 months have made me hate him even more. I am sorry LeBron but you are not the best player in the NBA. MVP titles don't mean anything if you don't have any rings to back them up. Also even if he does win rings in Miami he won't be the leader of the team. The reasons I hate him are that he is sooo full of himself, he treats his fans like crap, he did his own special on tv to spotlight himself, and he dragged out his decision and infested my tv with his crap. I hate LeBron and I hope that he never ever wins a ring! Any guy tha self proclaims himself the King is a Douche in my book.

2) Ladanian Tomlinson
Oh LT how you let me down. He use to be my favorite athlete. I don't hate him because he left the Chargers as that was a necessity. I hate him because he got a Jets tattoo. LT you have not even played with them. He is such a liar because he acted all heartbroken about leaving SD but then he goes and does that. Wimp ass move.

3)SF Giants Team
I hate the Giants. I don't have to have an excuse other than I am a Dodger fan. Sorry.

4) Ben Roethlisbergr
Ok, it is pretty bad when you are the QB on a team and even your own team doesn't like you. Ben is a loner in the locker room. He has gotten in trouble many times with the law including his shady behaviors with women. He is just an all around bad guy. Guess that happens when you become so popular at a young age.

5) A-Rod
This is Kevin's pick. He is rude to his fans. I hate people that are rude to their fans...hello a lot of the reason you are making the big dough is because your fans come to your games, buy jerseys and other logoed gear, and root for you. The least these athletes can do is sign some autographs and smile at their fans.,

The Winner of Biggest A-Hole of ALL Times goes to...

Barry Bonds
I am sure you all don't need an explanation. He is a jerk to his fans, he treated his team like crap, was one of the most self-centered athletes of all times, and was a cheater. Congratulations Barry here is an award you are actually deserving of.

Thanks!!

Changes on the Horizon and I am Pinocchio

Hello all my awesome bloggy friends!! Ok so first off I would like to thank everyone for their comments on Tuesday's post. Man I should write about the beach more often. I am sorry I haven't gotten around to responding to all of you yet, I will...Just been a little bit hectic in my life.

Why you ask? Well I just accepted a new position and gave my two weeks at my job today. So its been a bit hectic. I am working my little booty off to close as many deals as possible before I leave. I am really excited about my new job as it is in the field I want to be in, more money, closer to home, and I get an office. So that is what is new in my life. I am excited on moving along a new path.

Oh and I am pinocchio because I decided I am still going to have semi-sport Thursdays. I can't help it, I love sports. So I must say I am pretty frustrated by Basketball right now. The Lakers let the Suns win both the games in Phoenix, unacceptable. I just want to close this series out in 2 games. Here is what I think we need to do in order to close it out.
  • Actually adjust for zone defense
  • Play like the Lakers
  • Play like they did the first two games
  • I need to call the refs and fix the games :)

However, Boston lost yesterday so I am rooting for that series to go to 7 with the Magic or somehow (miracously) have the Magic win that series. It would be a miracle though because no team in the history of the NBA have come back from a 3-game deficit. But we will see.

Well that is all folks. I am pretty excited because I have tomorrow off!! Yay for a 4 day weekend.

Olympics, football trades. O MY!-Sports from a Chick's Eye

Hello my lovely followers and readers! So after a lot of thought and several blog drafts I decided that Thursdays will be my focus on sports (but from a girl's POV). There is a lot of sports going on right now especially with the Olympics but I will try to narrow it down to a few key stories (and by key, I mean what I find most important).

The Olympics:
So the olympics have been in full swing for almost a week now and I am happy to announce that the US is still ahead in medal count (we have 14 total)! WOOT. I use to love that as a kid, to know how many medals each country had. The two stories I want to focus on briefly deal with snowboarding.
  1.  Shaun White-Snowboard
Master of Many Sports with 2 Golds to show for it!
This guy is ridiculously talented. Its one thing to be great at one sport but he is not only good at  snowboarding but skateboarding as well. He wowed the world with his ridiculous talent on the snowboard halfpipe competition where he took Gold for the 2nd time. I sadly wasn't able to watch this but I did see short video clips and read all about it. I love when people up the stakes. Shaun pretty much had the Gold wrapped up but that didn't stop him from doing mindblowing tricks on his last run. Well deserved win Shaun.

           2. Lindsey Vonn- Alpine Skiing

3rd time is the charm!

I guess 3rd time is the charm for Lindsey Vonn. She won her first gold in her 3rd Olympics. She put her injury behind her and was able to just suffer through the pain to gain the ultimate reward. Me? I am happy to reward myself with fatty foods after a workout-I guess this can be comparable right? She is also the first American Woman to win the Gold for downhill skiing. That's some girl power for you!

Charger News:

News Flash! I LOVE the Chargers. They are my all time favorite team and actually more of a passion. I even have a charger bolt tattoo (I will post the picture-after I get it fixed). I cried when they got booted out of the playoffs (even tho its been a yearly experience). But every year I say "There's always next year!"

Anywho. I came across an article yesterday that was talking about Cromartie is most likely going to be traded. For most of you, Cromartie is a high ranking Cornerback for the Chargers (he actually use to be on my top 3 fav. players) The reason why I wanted to address this topic though was because of the last paragraph that one of the things he would be able to get out of the trade s more places to father children. I found this really funny because he has 7 children in 5 different states... See sports can be interesting!

Do you like sports? Are you watching the Olympics?

"Plunging headfirst" into the Blogging World

Hello! My name is Aimee Grove and I have just gotten into this crazy blogging world. I keep asking myself why I am starting a blog. I know that once I finish this entry and publish it that I have officially plunged head first into being a "blogger" . I am not a good writer, I never excelled at it in school or in my personal life but I have become enthralled by blogs so I figured I should just take the plunge.

I started racking my brain and asking my boyfriend (who by the way is 100x more talented at writing than I am-visit his blog http://kevinisranting.blogspot.com) for advice on my first blog. What should I call it? What should my theme be? How often should I write? And the big one...Should I even write a blog at all? Well obviously the answer to that last question was a yes.

So enough with the back story and the disclaimers. Here is my short and sweet introduction:

Name: Aimee
Age: 22
About me: A recent college graduate (BA in Economics and Business-emphasis in Marketing) who now is an Account Executive for a small company that specializes in stock option management and accounting compliance software. My goal in life is to become a successful CFO, hopefully for a quick growth private company so that I can help them prepare for an IPO. As for my personal life, I live with my boyfriend and our roommate in a condo in southern CA with our two cats. I am happy hanging with my girls or my boyfriend, spending hours at a book store, going out to bars or lounges, watching/playing sports, reading blogs, or playing board games.

**My cats! Sophie (top) and Mocha (bottom). They are my "kids" for now**

Behind the name: If you are familar with KROQ, more so the Kevin & Bean show, that is where my blog name came from. One of their segments is called "Thanks for that info Bean" because he is always going into a lot of detail about the most random things.
What the blog will be about: I haven't ironed out all the details but I know I am going to have themed days (it's the only way that I will be motivated to do this blog). My themed days however probably will not be alliterations (ie Wordless Wednesdays) Here are some of my ideas for themed days, I just need to narrow these down and pick nifty titles. Please let me know if you have any ideas.
  • Sports from a Girl's point of view
  • Design Day- My favorite blogs to read are those focused on Interior Design and Renovation (ie http://humbleablog.blogspot.com/). I can feature some of my favorite designs of the week if I don't have a current project I am working
  • Random Moments (Friday)- might be from my week or from a Bloggers
  • A "Blank" of the week-books, movies, businesses, candy, person, shape, blog etc.
  • Financial Talk and Tips
  • Just Vent- Sometimes you just need to vent...Followers can post their vents of the week here.
  • Dreams/Goals/Aspirations
This is just a basic list and some will not make the cut and if I get some good ideas from my followers then those will also be included. Oh and I will also try to learn how to make my blog spiffy.

Thanks for reading!
