Desperate Need for This

I am in desperate need of this and possibly a glass of wine to go along with it. Aww, tranquility!

Quarter End came in and kicked my behind super hard. I thought I would be fine, I thought I was in the clear. But alas with a sales environment you never know.

I hope that you all are doing well :) Send me some happy and RELAXING stories my way. I can't wait for the much needed and well deserved weekend.
Aimee

P.S. I feel this color is very calming, don't you agree?

The Perfect Weekend-Sun and Alcohol!

Hola Everyone!

I must say I had one of the most perfect weekends ever. I was sad to go to work today but I guess that means only 5 days until another weekend. You have to look at the positive spin.  I can't believe how PERFECT the weather was this weekend. I love Southern California springtime weather! It was warm enough to bring out the summer dresses, but not so hot that you feel like you are in hell; Perfection if I do say so myself.

I realized this weekend that I may like to complain about how my friends tend to flake out on me or, (when I am having my "woe is me" moments),  that I don't have any friends at all. It turns out I have some fantastic friends. I am so appreciative of them and the fun moments we have together. I often feel that I forget to "stop and smell the roses" of my beautiful relationships, new and old.

On Friday my best friend, Ashley, and I ventured down to the Main Street by the beach I live close to (literally 10 minutes away, depending on traffic lights). This was the first time I checked out the pubs there at night and I had a lot of fun. I love beach bars because of the laid back experience. It was so much fun to catch up with her because we hadn't had the chance to really chat in a while. We then walked over to another pub called Hennessey's across the street but, sadly, the live band that was playing there had just finished.

Saturday was packed with fun activities. I went to a picnic with a bunch of my sisters (I was in a Sorority in college so I am referring to them as opposed to my biological sister). It was a lot of fun just to get out of the house during the day and soak up some sun. There were water balloons and, though I was making a fuss about not wanting to get wet, I was disappointed when we ended up not having a balloon war. Sometimes you have to kick off your shoes and be a kid again.

That night Kevin and I had people over to play some board games and enjoy some drinks.  We ended up having about 8 people over, the perfect amount for games. We played Loaded Questions which has turned into my favorite game. What is your favorite?

On Sunday, my cousin came over which was exciting because I usually only see her once a year at Christmas time. However, she had just turned 21 so she was down here for her birthday. We ended up at the beach again and had lunch at Hennessey's, who coincidentally have great food. My (biological) sister and her husband met us there and we headed down to the beach.. I can't tell you how excited I am that it is beach weather again. Maybe I can actually get a little bit of color!

I am linking this to Relatively Unique's link party about what makes my heart smile. This past weekend reminded me of everything that makes me happy, time with loved ones and sunshine. Oh I guess a little bit of cocktails and wine never hurts right?

What makes you happy? How was your weekend?

This Wedding Blows...your mind!! (Random Fridays)

1) One way to liven up a wedding
Ok, so when Kevin & Bean told this story it sounded much more extreme because I thought the person blew his brains out.Dang radio announcers "decorating" a story.

Brief Summary: Gun with 1 bullet (rubber) in it at a wedding. Takes it out to play Russian Roulette with it and nothing happens. Hands it off to another guest who then shoots himself in the head with a rubber bullet.Severe head trama.

If the wedding sucked that bad they should have just left.

2) Dwarf Park

I have to admit that I would totally go to this park. But I am the bad person that wants to hire a midget for a party, I know I have my flaws.

The Little People's Kingdom is a park where dwarfs perform for guests. I guess you can view it in the bad light and say it is inequality and making mockery of dwarfs.  However, the dwarfs even said that this park helps them get jobs and be "respected" in a place where they normally would not.

I feel that if they are happy and they are making other people fascinated then this park is doing its job. If I was in China I would go to this park to support the little people and to also see the Swan Lake performance.

3)Don't tell mom

Short news story but great! I mean come on, this punk is trying to be a bad a** but as soon as he gets put in place he wants to make sure that the clerk does not tell his mom. It can be filed under stupidest criminals and also momma-boy criminals.

:)
Happy Friday!

What the Noid?!?!

Happy Hump Day!!

Today is a lucky day for me because someone returned my laptop! I now have faith in people again, gosh I am just so happy. I know I am a nerd, but I was ecstatic when I saw my fully formatted Excel spreadsheet ready for me when I opened my laptop. That was one project I was not looking forward to re-doing.

So, Kevin and Bean on KROQ did a feature of the 10 best ad characters, as well as the most annoying ad characters. I have decided to share the annoying ones with you.

Guyism.com did a feature on the 13 most annoying ad characters of all time.

13)Talking Babies-E*Trade.
I very much disagree with this one. I think E*Trade was smart to utilize babies in their commercials.
12) Nasonex Bee
11) Mr. Mucas-Mucinex
This character is so gross looking. I don't need to be seeing a cartoon snot character on TV. Gross.
10) Oven Mitt- Arby's
Very much agree with them on this one. Why use an oven mitt for advertising but especially for Arby's? Poor marketing.
9) Sponge Monkeys- Quiznos
8) Chester Cheetah
I disagree here. I think they are just jealous of his coolness.
7) Taco Bell Chihuahua
How is this not in the top 3? So annoying!
6) Pillsbury Dough Boy
Not only do I disagree with this one but he was in the Top 10 Ad characters of all time, how controversial. I think he is a cutie.
5) Mr. Six- Six Flaggs
Oh my goodness yes, one hundred times over! This midget old man needs to be put in a home, never to be heard from again.
4) White Gold-Milk
3)The General- General Insurance
I think the jingle is way more annoying then him. I am going to look up if there is a Top 10 Worst Ad Jingles of all time.
2) Aflac Duck
I agree with it being on the list but how is the Chihuahua not higher than the duck???
1) The Noid-Dominos
I am too young to remember this ad character but you better believe I am going to look these commercials up. I mean it has to be super annoying to top the list.

Kevin would like to add in "The Survival Insurance Guy from the 90's".

Are there any that didn't make the lsit that you felt should have? Or do you disagree with any on this list?

Have a great night!

The Story of a Space Cadet with Horrible Luck!

Hello!

Ok so I will not be doing a feature today because I am having a very stressful day. I normally would not post at all but I thought I would share my misfortune with you just in case you need a reason to feel better about your day;)

So I lost my work laptop, yes the one that my work bought for me. I went to the bathroom prior to leaving work yesterday and I put it down while I washed my hands. Well because I am such a space cadet I left without my computer bag, laptop and all. Keep in mind that this bathroom is not just for my work but the other office suites as well.

So I did not realize this mistake until I got hone at 8 pm. It is now missing in action. It really blows, I thought that I was going to get fired but my boss just laughed at me.

I do have a new computer but all of my documents and paperwork are gone. This is bad for anyone but for someone with OCD its horrible. I had detailed Excel spreadsheets on there and now I have to try to reproduce those.

So lesson of the day: Make sure you always have all of your belongings, especially something as important as your work computer.

I Miss the Dress Up Days

So I had quite a weekend!
I had a realization that I miss my childhood and especially the carefree attitude we all had as little ones. This past Friday I went over to a friend's house and her daughter was playing dres up with one of her friends. Their only worry was what dress to put on next and if they looked like a pretty princess (which they did by the way). I wish I had those worries. I  remember how much fun I use to have when I played dress up when I was younger. My sister (who is 2 ½ years older than me) and I especially enjoyed dressing my brother up (who is 3 ½ years younger than me). Poor Timmy, we tortured him. I feel bad for boys that have older sisters because I know how horrible us sisters are to them.

Anyway, enough with my wishful thinking, I had a great weekend. On Friday night, like I mentioned earlier we went over to one of our couple friends. After the little ones went to bed we played a fun game that I forget the name of but it was in the Cranium family so obviously it was great. A little tidbit about me, I love board games! After the game we had a lot of lengthy conversations about our various fields of work and also about life in general. We also watched Zombieland, mostly because it is Kevin’s goal to make sure that everyone knows how fantastic that movie is. With the movie and all the long discussions we had we didn’t end up leaving till 4 am, so I think it was a successful evening.

Saturday night was also great because we went over to another friend’s house for her birthday and we played Loaded Questions. This is very fun game that could possibly envoke controversy and good conversations so I suggest you play it.

I went to a Clippers vs. Kings game with a new friend of mine at the Staples Center on Sunday. So in case you couldn’t tell I love sports and I am very passionate about my teams but I could care less about both of these teams. I forgot how dull a game can be when you could care less who wins. Also, it was a boring game because both those teams are sort of very lame (sorry if you are a fan of either of those teams, I speak the truth). Overall, I had a lot of fun because it is still nice to get out with girls and watch some sports games. It also helps that the Staples Center is one of my favorite venues, I just hope that the next basketball game I go to is a Lakers game. Damn them for being so good and having ridiculously expensive tickets.
I had a very fun filled and relaxing weekend. I am just sad that my boyfriend is sick.
How was your weekend?

Weekend Wishes

Hello All!

It's been a lovely weekend thus far. I slept most of today, primarily because I have a sore throat, but also because I was out until 4 am at my friend Chey's house, hanging out with Kevin and her husband. It was a lot of fun. I love having couple friends! It's fun to have double dates or just to hang out at their homes. We all have very similar interests and the conversations are extrememly interesting.

So, my weekend wish is that the weather continues to stay nice. It has been so sunny and warm lately, I love it! It is nice to have the sun out because it brightens my day.

A great thing about sunny days is that it allows you to do anything you'd like, you are not held back because it is too cold or rainy. Having no limitations is what I love about Spring and Summertime.

What is your ideal weather?

Friday Oddities

Yay it's Friday! I only have like 3.5 hours of real work left and then I have a sales meeting. After that, the weekend begins. I am one of those weird people that still likes work meetings. It is probably due to the fact that this is my first real "professional" job so I'm not worn out by endless meetings. However, after today's meeting, I am booking it out of here! My weekend is full of fun! 2 parties, 1 Clippers game (its not the Lakers but oh well), and some Project Runway watching.

 Onto the good stuff....

Odd news.

There were a lot of stories today but I narrowed them down to the top 3. Keep reading because one of them includes porn!

(To read the story please click on the underlined sub-title)

Better Late Than Never

This book is returned 45 years late. How crazy is that. Imagine the librarian checking that in and seeing how old it is ("the brown-edged pages"). I wonder what they were thinking. I am always very interested in thinking about life back in different decades.

You know what is the oddest thing about this article? The fact that the city of London caps its overdue fee at $9. Maybe libraries in the US should start doing that. Often, the fees are twice as much what the book is worth. You want $56 for this picture pop-up book? That's why us Americans just keep the books.

A Real Invisibility Cloak
picture from Closed Stack

These German scientists claim that they are making headway in transformation optics. Those are just code words for "We are nerding out on Harry Potter". I guess it would be cool to have places to hide large things, but no headway has been made on hiding a truck or a person.

I don't know about you but I am kind of freaked out by the idea that one day someone will be able to walk unseen Harry Potter-style.

Pornography Problems

This gives the show Rugrats a totally different meaning!

This story speaks for itself. I mean come on, how lucky were those South Carolina boys? They thought they were going to watch some cartoons but instead they get sexy programming.

Have a great weekend!

Let the Madness Begin *Sports from a Girl's POV*

So its March Madness time in NCAA Basketball (that's college basketball for those of you living under a rock or in another country)

This is probably the only major sports event that I do not watch nor follow, except for soccer (which technically should not count). I don't have any great predictions which is why you won't find me participating in any brackets. I guess I am rooting for Syracuse because that is who my boyfriend, the typical crazy sports enthusiast has picked.

I listen to Kevin & Bean on KROQ (a Los Angeles and surrounding areas radio station). Today they had Matt "Money" Smith on who is a predominant sports enthusiast/radio show host. He gave his "cliff notes" version of the key teams to watch and why. I have provided a few of these to you in case that you want to sound semi-knowledgeable about March Madness.

Kentucky: "Has all the athletes"
Syracuse: "Senior leadership in the guard position"
Big Ten: "Underrated but they make great coaching decisions"

That is my poor attempt at providing you with some sports knowledge. I think it can help you impress others or give them a false idea that you know what you are talking about when it comes to the tournament. If you actually do know what's going on in this crazy thing called March Madness then more power to you.

By the way, how did everyone's St. Patty's day go? I was lame and stayed home drinking wine and watching Degrassi.

:)

Guest Blogger: Kevin Reviews...something

Hello All!

Seeing as how Aimee is extremely busy at work, she has asked me to write today's blog entry.

I am reading a book entitled "Secret Lives of the Supreme Court". As someone who possesses a Political Science degree, writes a (mostly) politically-charged blog and is something of a history nerd, this book was right up my alley.

The book, written by Robert Schnakenberg, details the lives and quirks of supreme court justices past and present from the odd (two 20th century justices died virgins) to the creepy (Justice Hugo Black was a Klan member).

Though I had a previous understanding of the voting records displayed by many justices, It is truly interesting to see that, despite the enormous amount of respect that comes with the position, many were nominated and confirmed with little formal education or legal ability, hence decisions like the Dred Scott case and Plessy vs. Ferguson.

The book proves how, throughout the colorful history of the United States, who you know is far more important that what you know.

A couple of small tidbits from the book:

- Conservative justice John Marshall Harlan organized regular screenings of X-rated films.
- Thurgood Marshall routinely halted sessions at 1pm in order to watch Days of our Lives in his chambers.
- William O. Douglas was dubbed by his fellow justices the "Biggest man slut to ever sit on the bench".
"Who put a pubic hair on my Coke?" - Clarence Thomas
"Waiter, bring on the Rum!" - John Marshall, America's first Chief Justice, during a court session.

This is a book I would highly recommend to political nerds such as myself, or to anyone who enjoys finding out how "infallible" some of our most respected members of society can be.

You regularly scheduled blogger shall return shortly.

-Kevin

Look Before you Leap **Special Picture**

My lesson of the day is Look Before You Leap.

Regardless of what it is regarding you should. It could be as small as calling before you drive to Verizon on your lunch break for a battery, only to find out they don't have it in stock. (did that today) Or it could be doing you due diligence on researching before you make a life-altering decision.

Just remember to take the extra time to look before you leap. You will be eternally grateful to yourself for making a well-educated decision.

Weekend Wishes

 Happy Saturday! Happy Spring!

So, it has taken a while but I have finally come up with a theme for Saturdays. I often like to sit and dream about what-if situations. It's good to have hopes and dreams; It keeps us motivated. So on Saturdays I am going to focus on a wish (or wishes) that I have either for the week or life or just in general.

I want to have enough money to buy designer purses. I've been wanting a Dooney and Bourke for so long!
Okay, confession time. I LOVE shoes! Especially heels and trust me, when it comes to footwear, the taller the better. I know it will be years before I can justify spending hundreds of dollars on a pair of shoes however. For now though, I will continue to buy my Target shoes while dreaming of the time I can spoil myself with a pair of Jimmy Choos.

When (and if) I get married I want to have a sunflower bouquet. Actually, I want to have a ton of sunflowers at my wedding. I don't know what it is, but for some reason when I see Sunflowers my happiness meter shoots up to full. They are so bright and beautiful. What flower would be better for the "happiest day of my life"?

What small little pleasures in life do you wish for?

Just a little bit of Insanity

So since my week has been so INSANE I decided to focus on a story that made me feel a bit lot more sane.

**A little fyi for you wonderful readers: I am an account executive and I am in charge of business to business sales, so month-end is crazy and quarter-end is just ridiculous. If you are unaware as to the meanings of month and quarter-end, I envy you. When I go MIA, to the wonderful land of financials is where I have gone.**

Got to Shave the Va-jay-jay!! Story
I think this is one of my favorite crazy news story ever! I mean it focuses on all levels of insanity.

This woman was shaving her "hoo-ha" while driving. And if that wasn't bad enough she was on the way to her boyfriend's house with her ex-husband in the car. Why couldn't he just drive? Better yet, why was he even there?? I don't even want to imagine nor think about it in too much depth. Let us examine the craziness of the people involved.

Woman Shaving: What makes someone think to themselves "I think I need to get a razor close to my privates while I am driving" First off, that is something that should be done in private (Hence, privates). Secondly, if you must do it in the car then at least be the passenger. All because she claimed she didn't want it to look like a "dog panting". Gross.

Ex-Husband Passenger: Ok, so we already know this guy is insane because he was married to the lady in question previously, but then he decides to drive over with the razor happy lady to drop her off at her current boyfriend house? Are you kidding me?

Boyfriend: Once again, we know he is crazy because of who he is dating. Since he has stayed with her after hearing this release it just confirms said insanity.

It's stories like this that make me feel like no matter how insane it may get at work,(or I may act at home) I am still very normal.

Have a great Friday everyone!

What a beauty! **Special Picture**

Hello. So I decided that Pictures are Worth a Thousand Words is WAY too long of a title so I changed it. It's the same idea just different title.

Well we had a party over here or the Oscars with a Buy In Ballot and everything. It was so much fun (even though I did not place in the top). I picked 13 right which is pretty decent-the winner bad 17, very impressive. I like doing the ballot because it makes it a lot more interesting to watch.

I have decided that this is my dress. While I am not a big Kristin Stewart fan, this was my favorite dress of the night.

Where did you watch the Oscars? What was your favorite dress/fashion statement of the night?

All about Pigs

It's Friday and that means Odd News!!! This is my favorite themed day and boy do we have some doozies today.

Pig Panda

Read Story Here.

This is not spider pig's cousin. This is a real story about a panda that got so hungry it broke into a farm and ate like a pig. If I were those pigs I would have been very angry. I mean come on this is an animal that is usually happy sucking on sticks and eating bushes (very much like women and men).

Send us your Fat!!
Read Story Here

Is it pig appreciation day and I just missed the memo? Because trust me I appreciate the pigs, they make great food. Ham, bacon, and pork are three of my favorite meats. I don't blame Putin for being angry that Ukrain is sending over political problems rather than pig fat.

As a person that is 1) not that into politics and 2) a major fatty I must say that I agree with Putin on this point. Do you know how valuable pig fat is?

I will request that all of my followers send me some pig fat too.

Have a good Friday and remember to appreciate the pigs! (whether it be an animal or a person)

Team Loyalties-Sports from a Girl's POV

 Photographs all from Digg.com

Team Loyalty and Crazyness! *It's Everywhere*

I am guilty of abnormal team loyalty and slight extreme craziness. I will admit that I have a tattoo of the San Diego Charger bolt on my ankle. I have even had hostile feelings towards people based on their team affiliation. But there is a line that only the least sane fans cross, and some people are running over it like it's nothing.

What makes people so crazy about their teams? How often do we hear about fights breaking out at games or bars because one person is a Yankee fan and the other a Red Sox fan?

Being a fan of a specific team can define a small part of who you are and often times you feel more connected to a stranger because you see them wearing your team's hat. I am a Charger fan through and through and I often feel like I am a part of a family when I see other Charger fans.

I have been thinking about this over the past few weeks because of the olympics, specifically Hockey. For those of you who aren't aware, almost all of the international hockey teams are comprised of professional hockey players, be it NHL, KHL or other pro leagues.

Often times there will be players on the same team (US or Canada) who are bitter rivals during the season, but come together for the national team. So you will find fans  rooting for a player, or players,  who they usually hate. Its a fascinating phenomenon if you take the time to think about it.

Here are some crazy things sport fans do: (and once again I am guilty of a few of these)
  • Get a tattoo (check)
  • Get in a fight because of a sports team (only verbal for me)
  • Wear only your teams parephenellia
  • Schedule important events (ie: Wedding) around sports seasons (will do that one day)
  • Name a child after an athlete
  • Live and die for a specific team (on;y during football season;)

Do you have a specific team that you are passionate about? Any crazy fan stories?

Insert Clever Title Here- Tuesday's Feature

It's Tuesday and that means it is time for Tuesday's Feature. Today I am going to review one of my favorite foods: Steak. I love steak more than life itself and I am very particular about the way its cooked. Many people think the way i prefer my steak cooked is "disgusting" (Kevin) but hey, it's my food so back off!

The Perfect Steak: Medium rare. I prefer it to where the savory juices drip onto the plate, enabling me to dip the steak in it. I never have to use any type of sauce (A-1, Hollandaise, Mustard) because there is no need. It is delicious as is.

My personal choice? Filet Mignon, topped with mushrooms or King Crab.
Best Steak I have ever had:
I went to this pricey restaurant, which happens to be a short walk from my condominium, called Maderas Steak & Ribs. It's a relatively small restaurant with an average decor and stellar customer service. The food was incredible! The steak was cooked to perfection. The strongest testament to the quality of the meal was the fact that Kevin, who is notorious for needing sauce on everything, abstained from A-1 due to the tenderness and flavor of the steak. I ordered a Filet Mignon topped with King Crab, which was a revelation of flavor. After the meal, the owner came to ask how we felt about it. When we informed him of our immense satisfaction, he mentioned that they import their steaks from the midwest, who use a more natural form of raising cattle. The end of the night was bittersweet as I was sad to leave, but super satisfied with my meal.

Steak House I've been Dying to try:

I have heard so many good reviews from this place, i'm itching to head on in. Not helping in this cause is the fact that someone I know works there, thus I hear about it more than I should. Residing in the $50-plus per person price range, Ruth's Chris is a bit out of my price range normally, however, Kevin and I are hopefully going to take advantage of the discount rates during OC Restaurant Week. Unfortunately,  steak is not on the predetermined menu for the event. Sad times. Still, I am determined to eat a Steak here. I just hope it lives up to its lofty expectations.
Do you have a favorite steak or steak house?

Seeing the Light at the End of the Tunnel *Pictures are worth 1000 words*

Hey All!

Sorry for being MIA lately, but work has been kicking my A$$. I have been (and still am) so swamped. I barely have time to write this blog, but it's my lunch break. I feel like I don't even know what those are anymore... But its going to be ok. Things should slow down for a week or 2 until end of quarter comes and then it will pick up again. But such is the life of a working professional.

I do love looking at pictures though. They make me smile and help me to remember that there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

Take Rainbows, for instance. They are a beautiful, natural thing that occurs after a plan-ruining, bothersone phenomena called 'Rain' occurs. I love the rain but when it forces me to change my plans or my clothes, I am not a fan. Still, rainbows are gorgeous. So I am hoping for my rainbow soon...

Hopefully it will come in the shape of this.
